Mt. Hood Pomskies Guardian Program

At Mt. Hood Pomskies, we’re proud to introduce our innovative Guardian Program, designed to provide the best of both worlds for our breeding dogs and Pomsky enthusiasts. This program allows select Pomskies to live with carefully chosen families while remaining an integral part of our breeding program.

Key Features of the Guardian Program:

  • Family Integration: Our Guardian Program places potential breeding Pomskies in loving homes, where they can enjoy the comfort and companionship of a family environment.

  • Breeding Excellence: While guardians provide a nurturing home, Mt. Hood Pomskies retains breeding rights for a specified period. This ensures that our high breeding standards are upheld.

  • Health and Wellness: All guardian Pomskies undergo thorough health screenings to ensure they are free from genetic conditions, ensuring the future litters are healthy and robust.

  • Support and Guidance: Guardian families receive comprehensive support and guidance from Mt. Hood Pomskies, ensuring they are well-equipped to care for their new family member.

  • Commitment to Care: Post-breeding, guardians have the option to fully adopt their Pomsky, solidifying the bond between the dog and its forever family.

Our Guardian Program is a testament to our dedication to ethical breeding practices and the well-being of our Pomskies. It allows us to expand our loving community and gives families the unique opportunity to be part of our mission to breed healthy, happy Pomskies.

Selecting the right guardian families for our breeding dogs is a process we take very seriously at Mt. Hood Pomskies.

Here’s how we approach this important task:

Selection Criteria for Guardian Families:

  • Home Environment: We look for families that can provide a stable, loving, and safe environment. A home visit may be conducted to ensure it’s a suitable space for a Pomsky.
  • Experience with Dogs: Preference is given to families with prior experience in raising dogs, especially those familiar with the unique needs of the Pomsky breed.
  • Lifestyle Match: We consider the family’s lifestyle to ensure it aligns with the activity level and temperament of the Pomsky.
  • Commitment to Training: Guardians should be willing to commit to basic training and socialization as per our guidelines to ensure the dog’s well-being and adaptability.
  • Proximity: Families living within a reasonable distance from our facility are preferred for ease of access during breeding periods and health check-ups.
  • Long-Term Intent: We seek families who are interested in a long-term commitment and are willing to collaborate with us throughout the dog’s breeding life.

Our Selection Process:

  1. Application Review: Interested families submit a detailed application that helps us understand their background and environment.
  2. Interviews: We conduct interviews to get to know the families better and discuss expectations and responsibilities.
  3. Home Evaluation: A visit to the family’s home may be arranged to assess the living conditions and safety for the Pomsky.
  4. Compatibility Assessment: We ensure that the family and the Pomsky are a good match in terms of energy levels and personality.
  5. Agreement: Once a family is selected, we finalize the arrangement with a comprehensive agreement outlining the terms of the Guardian Program.
